Then I got on to the train and about five minutes out of Venice (non stop train - 2 hour trip) I couldn't remember packing my money wallet that I carry in my bag when I am on the move. I don't leave it in my case because sometimes my case is out of site on the train, so knew I wouldn't have put it in there, but it also wasn't in my bag and I could remember it being on the bed but not touching it since then. With my stomach churning and having hot flushes in panic, I rang the landlord who I hadn't told about the bloody toilet seat!!
He went back to the house and I rang him about 15 minutes later and no the money wasn't anywhere in the house. At this stage I'm thinking well there's nothing else I can do, and in my mind I'm coming home a couple of weeks earlier etc, just have to accept it. I get to Bologna, get a taxi to the motel, get to my room (which is sheer luxury), unpack my case throwing crap everywhere and guess what was there. Yep. Money wallet.
Now I'm thinking, I gave the landlord in Venice my phone number, he can contact me about the toilet seat - see what a guilty concience does!
(Two towers - my landmarks so I don't get lost here!)
Today I am feeling a billions times better than yesterday, but am still a bit tired so have been to the chemist, got some tablets for sinus - lucky I bought my spray with me because that has helped - and some vitamin tables because I don't want to run out of puff. Whatever is in Italian sinus tablets they work quick smart so that's good. I'm planning another early night tonight, I have a super duper king size bed so it's beautiful to sleep in, (I think I have a single bed in Perusia!) and a super duper king size shower so had a beautiful shower yesterday afternoon, but this morning no hot water, receptionist said it is fixed and there will be water this arv, that's all very well but I like a shower in the morning too to help get things kick started. If that's the worst thing here, then that's ok, otherwise this motel is lovely and worth more than I am paying but don't tell them that until I have gone.
I went in to town this morning and walked around a bit and then got the on-off bus and did the tourist drive around for an hour, then walked around some more looking for somewhere to get my nails done (there's nowhere!) and I'm also checking out hair dressers because I have decided to chop off my hairs and as soon as I see a hair dresser that has a young girl in it instead of a barbers shop with an old man in it, I will go and and get her to cut it off. I thought there would be a few around because this is a university town with hundreds of uni students around, but I haven't seen one hair dresser since I have been here, and I havent just stuck to the main streets, maybe I will see somewhere in Perugia tomorrow or the next day. I'm not sure if i like Bologna, it's got heaps and heaps of old buildings and castles here (duh!), but all the buildings are either grey or terracotta and are all covered in graffiti so it's not a 'pretty' city. The people are friendly enough, and one thing that I don't know why but when you order cuppacino they give you a shot glass of water, I asked what it was and the waitress looked at me as if I was a dumb arse and said 'acqua!!!!', Oh of course, how silly of me! I still don't know why I got it though.
(Looking to the end of the street from where I had a cuppacino [and a shot glass of water] this morning)
It's time for a siesta and then I will have a shower and go and find somewhere to have something to eat (just for something different) then come back and get ready to move on tomorrow - long train trip tomorrow I leave on the 11am train and get to Perugia around 3pm with one change in between. I will make sure I have my money with me this time!!
