I went to the train station late yesterday afternoon to organise my ticket to Roma tomorrow, and who should I bump in to - Gaetano frm Pompei. He just 'happened' to be in Salerno! So, we went and had something to eat and a drink, all was ok - until some freak was pacing up and down in front of us, if I had been there by myself I would have noticed earlier and left, but I was slightly relaxed because I wasn't on my own and I didn't take a lot of notice. Gaetano did, and asked the freak what he was doing. They exchanged Italian words and next thing, the freak undoes the zip on his hoody to show one dirty great big Mick Dundee knife hidden in his jacket. I said to Gaetano andiamo (let's go)- he went in to pay and I got my cardi and the freak comes over to me saying something in Italian - I just said, no capisco, Australiana, mi dispiace, no capisco. Gaetano come out, they have words again, I start to walk off thinking if he wants it can be his battle but I just wanted to get out of there. I called out "Vado (I'm going) Gaetano", he came, we walked back to the train station and I got a taxi back to the hotel. Phew, what a night that was, but even more what a night it could have been!!!
Nothing anywhere near as drastic or dramatic happened today thank goodness!
Although ... I was walking to the bus stop this morning and a car drove past me then stopped. The yucky driver wound down his window and asked if I was going to Salerno.
Yes.
Get in my car I will drive you
Pfffttt, NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
off he went!
Then I went to the bar and got my bus tickets. The two guys in there call me "Sydney" because that is what they know about Australia! I am outside the bar waiting for the bus, another yucky man turns up and is leering so I walk behind him. He turns around and is leering at me, so I walk in to the bar and stand in the door way. The guys say "Sydney -va bene?"
Sydney says 'No! Yucky uomo'
so they come over to the door way and point to the leerer 'this'????? The leerer takes off, the bus comes. Thanks Guys!!!
Ferry to Positano. What a beautiful place the Amalfi coast is! My words would never do it justice, and neither do my photos, if you have been there then you know for yourself. If you haven't been there, get your bum into gear and check it out!

Positano was lovely, lunch was faultless, the shops even better!! I watched a painter set his gear up as I ate lunch then bought two of his paintings, then checked out the shops and the views and had a paddle for a few hours until the ferry came and I hopped on, wishing I had two more months in Italy!
Tomorrow I leave here to return to magnificent Roma for my last few days in Italy :(
Meanwhile I have to pack my gear - but it's not too bad, Advanti Un Altro is on, I will watch that as I get myself organised!
