Back In Roma 3 Settembre 2014

After 15 hours on one plane, about 8 of which I think I slept, then a stop at stinking hot Doha for an hour that I spent trying to find where I needed to be, then another five hours on another plane, mostly uneventful except when I woke myself up snoring - oooops, finding my way around Rome airport, train to Termini, bingo bango, here I am.
The nunnery is as expected, bare but comfortable.  When I asked for a fan I was told it was not hot enough, but obviously it's cold enough to have the floor heating on!
Today I went to Vatican City along with about five hundred others to hear Papa preach.  The Polish lady next to me made her son help me to stand on a chair - I didn't know why until I saw Papa drive past, stopping occassionally to kiss a baby.  The Polish lady was crying.
I left Papa when I realised he wasnt going to help with my jeg lag and I was getting sunburnt, and wandered to Campo di Fuori where I had some bruschetta and insalata mista per pranzo, then back to the nunnery to change out of oil covered clothes (missed my gob), and have spent the last couple of hours wandering around checking out fontana di trevi and the pantheon.
I am so glad I saw Fontana di Trevi in all its glory last time, I would have been devastated to have missed it.  It is undergoing renovations and you can't see anything.
The Pantheon again took my breath away when I walked in and could see the blue sky through the hole in the roof.
BUT
The tourists
Oh mamma mia the tourists
In their groups
Or the ones blocking the way looking at their maps
They drive me nuts
They MUSTdrive the natives nuts.
I have refused to speak english, I am speaking Italiano to everyone, waiters want to speak english, tour toutists want to speak english, the nuns want to speak english, but no, parlo Italiano.  I like to see the confused look on the nuns' faces when I speak to them.  They look like I probably do when they try to speak Italian to me!
Tomorrow I think I will go to Travestere for the day, last time I was there I was going to get a new tattoo but the tattooist was closed until 5, I might see if he is open!
I will also figure out how to save photos from my camera memory card to my tablet and upload some to my blog pages, see how I go.
