The flights were great considering. From Melbourne to Dubai I had two women sitting next to me, and from Dubai to Barcelona the plane was only half full so I moved seats and sat with a spare seat next to me. That was better. I don't know how much I slept on the flights but I do know I woke myself snoring on more than one occasion!
Dubai was interesting, I had to get the train from one terminal to the next which was no drama. What was a drama was the line for the toilet. Two toilets for the women but the men had ten (The line was in front of the men's toilet, you couldn't help but see in every time a man would breeze past). Men in dresses would stare as I walked past but on looking around I noticed that everyone in the airport had either black or very dark brown hair so that explained the stares.
When I finally arrived in Barcelona and got through all the legal palaver I walked out to find the guy from the company that were going to take me to my hotel from the airport. Only thing was he didn't have my name, and even though I had a receipt with all the details on it he still refused to take me anywhere. Luckily the signora at the information desk was nice, she showed me where to get the bus that just about stopped out the front of my hotel. I arrived at the hotel around 2.30 - I had been travelling for 22 and a half hours and was ready for a nice hot hot shower which I had, then went out and found myself almost on the corner of Las Ramblas, right where the terror attack had happened earlier this year, but you wouldn't know it. There is no sign of anything that happened that day, only police everywhere but I am guessing they were always there.
After walking around for an hour or so, mostly down Las Ramblas, off a side street then back again I saw a pizza sign, went in and ordered a glass of sangria which came in a bucket and a delish pizza, inhaled them both, walked back to my room, got into bed and was asleep within five seconds.
It doesn't look it but this glass was the size of a bucket
Pizza was delicious
Today I've walked the length of Las Ramblas down to the water, strolled around then walked back through the gothic area which I absolutely loved - found a vegan place for yummy lunch, found heaps of places for dinners, tapas and whatever else I could possibly want and have run out of puff so came back to my room for a bit of a rest.

Meanwhile, some photos from today (I don't know what day it is, I think it's Friday but it could be any other day - I've lost or gained hours and hours, I don't really know, I do know it is day time because the sun is out ...) - the buildings have lovely balconies.

You can catch the gondola from the mountain over the bay - You can but I won't
