I had another walking tour, this time of the Dorsoduro district. Dorsoduro is the district where the main university is and very much an arty area. There are many art museums in the Dorsoduro area, and something I didn't know, the Giudecca Island is also considered to be part of Dorsoduro, so there you go!
I have really enjoyed all the walking tours I have done this trip. You learn so much about an area with guides who have studied history and know their stuff.

The day started out clear as a bell at 7am when I woke up but by 8.30 the 'mist' was as thick as soup. I had worked out which vaporetto I needed to get so I was at the tour meeting spot on time, all good. Til I got to the vaporetto stop and the vaporetto that I was going to get wasn't running. Apparently when it is foggy not all vaporetto run. Whatever that's about.
So, I got what vaporetto I could get to as close as I could get to the meeting spot and power walked to get there on time. I was a bit late but the guide was there waiting thank goodness. My hair by this stage was dripping wet from the damp but I was too puffed to worry about that for now.
There wasn't anyone else there, and after checking Lucia (the guide) discovered one family had postponed until Friday and the other was a no-show. So, I had her all to myself again. Lucky!
We walked for a couple of hours around Dorsoduro with her telling me bits and pieces about everything.
After the tour I went off in the San Polo district direction to find an artist that I had been told about. That was interesting finding the shop, even with Google maps! I eventually found the shop after hitting dead-end after dead-end by around 1pm to discover the shop was closed until 3.30pm.
I had some lunch and hung around for a while but didn't wait until 3.30 because by now my hair was wet, my jacket was wet, my pants were wet and I was getting cold. I followed the signs and found myself back at the station then walked from there (without needing to consult a map any more!!) back to the hotel. I cranked up the heater, had the hottest shower known to man for the longest time to thaw out, got under the doona and stayed there!
Today I woke up feeling a bit foggy in the head, I think I might have exhausted myself so I had breakfast, went out for a walk for a couple of hours, discovered a lovely promenade at the back of the hotel and sat there for about half an hour just sitting, thinking how lovely a spot that would be in spring or autumn and I wonder if the people of Venice know how lucky they are. I wonder if they realise the water views they have over the lagoon are worth millions and squillions of dollars.

I've come back to my room, told the cleaner not to worry about cleaning the room, went through my case and can't believe how almost empty it is considering how chock-a-block it was when I left home.
I think it's time for a CBF day.
