Another beautiful day in Italy

It has been another beautiful day here today I would guess around 28 degrees, beautiful clear blue skies.

(Clear blue sky)
I have walked miles and miles and miles today, first I caught the 'on-off' bus on the corner of my street and was going to get off at some castle, then walk across the bridge in to Verona central, until we got to the castle. While it was less than an inch on the map, the map didn't show altitude! You will see what I mean from the photos that I took from the top of Verona.

I stayed on the bus and got off at the Duomo, I went in and checked out some of the art work, walked through a door in the side of the Duomo (reminded me of the wardrobe in The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe) and found myself inside an underground Roman chapel that is still used today.

(Roman chapel still used today)
After that I ended up back in the main Piazza again, this time from a different road. I went in to a bank to try to withdraw some money from my tavelex card, I first had to press a button that opened a door that left me standing in a time capsual sort of thing, I started to go all hot and my heart started beating quickly because it was extremely claustric, then another door opened and let me out - lucky I didnt have my gun on me! They wouldn't let me withdraw over the counter, sent me to another bank who sent me to another bank who sent me to another bank who wanted me to use their ATM which I don't want to do, so went back a couple of banks because their ATM is inside the bank and not on the street and used that. I am going to have to follow that up when I get home because I have been told I can go in to any bank and withdraw on the card. Hmmmm.

I then had a tonno insalada - tuna salad -at a restaurant in the centre of Verona - I know these places charge more and cater to the tourists but figure I need to have one meal in these places, just to say I have. The waiter trying to talk people in to eating in the restaurant was doing a good job getting bums on seats, but when people walked past and didn't sit and eat there he would call them names etc until he realised I could understand him (thanks Lou!!). I then stopped at a fruit stand, bought a cup of fruit and kept walking, walked past the arena again (3rd time today) and found a castle so went in there.
(Castelvecchio)

(Walking across the top of Castelvecchio)

It has been turned in to a gallery but I got sick of looking at paintings and art after a while so walked across the top of the castle (got lost looking for the exit), then walked back in to the centre of Verona. I then walked across the bridge to come home , to get across to the other side and think hmmmmm have I seen these things before??? I didn't think I had - wrong bridge. I managed to get off the wrong bridge and walk in what I thought was the right direction to find myself miles away in the opposite direction. I dont know what it is but I cant seem to get my sense of direction working here. I think someone is printing trick maps and watching people like me turn the maps around and around, looking at them with my head on an angle trying to work it out, and laughing their heads off!
I'm off to Venice tomorrow, I don't trust myself to get to the station in time for my train, so have asked the owner of this place to book me a taxi for the morning. God help me when I get to Venice - apparently it's easy for people with a good sense of direction to get lost there - I could end up anywhere, as long as it's not in a canal ...
