I have walked the streets of Florence for five hours this morning (can't have my feet not hurting!!) got lost a couple of times but I think that's the best way to see everything. There are tourists everywhere, walking around in their little tour groups - I have tagged along a couple every now and then if I find something I dont know what it is I listen to them and then off I go again! Check out the picture of the crowd walking towards Ponte Vecchio - I didnt have a map all day but just followed crowds and found lots of things! I think there are more people here than in Rome.
I was thinking I might like to buy some jewellery from one of the shops along Ponte Vecchio - just to be able to say "Oh this, I got it on Ponte Vecchio in Florence" but it is all very expensive, I bought a small painting instead for 25 euro, it was meant to be 35 euro but because I'm Aussie the guy took off 10 euro.
It is really hot again, so I've come back to the loft for the afternoon, and will have a siesta then go out and find somewhere to have some dinner. I wont go in to the centre of Florence - I bought a cappucino for 1.20 euro on my way in to town this morning, then I had brunch of cappucino and toasted sandwich in Florence - 7 euro for the coffee and 8 for the sandwich, although a toasted tomato and cheese sandwich tastes so much better in Florence!
I have booked a ticket to the Uffizi Gallery for Tuesday - galleries are not open here on Mondays, so tomorrow I think I will get the train to Pisa for the morning and maybe check out some parts of Florence I didnt see today in the afternoon if its not to hot.
Enjoy a couple of today's photos ...
