I called in to the cafe on the corner on the way to the bus this morning. I had been talking to the guy behind the bar about Australia, he wants to go but is scared of sharks!!!! They hear a lot here when someone is killed by a shark. Anyway, today, there is a love heart on top of my cuppaccino, my reaction 'ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh' and a laugh, he held my hand until I finished my drink, said grazie and left!! This afternoon I called in for un caffe per favore and he had a big dopey grin on his face and asked me if I would go out with him or the other guy behind the bar, they are both single and are both in love with me. Of course they are, they are only human! I said they should both go out together and find someone. He thought I said that I would go out with both of them together!!!!! I soon set him straight, downed my espresso and left!
I caught the bus to Trastevere and wandered around there for a while getting lost. I am absolutely convinced that maps are printed back to front and upside down because I cannot believe how I am always going the opposite way to the way I think I am, even with a river to keep me on track. I think the river is behind me but when I look at the map it is in front of me and then I don't believe the map so keep going and guess what, eventually I give in because the map actually is right. I can't believe my sense of direction is so bad.
I was going to get the bus back to the station but decided to walk around a bit, walked over a different bridge on to Isola, a man made itty bitty island on the river then back to Rome side of the river. Found some more ruins there, and don't ask me how but I ended up back at the Campo di Fiori where I was yesterday! I even said out aloud "How on earth did I end up here". Anyway kept walking and found a small pizzeria and had some pasta and salad for lunch then walked to the Trevi Fountain again. I love it there, the fountain really is beautiful, it is the first monument I found when I arrived in Rome and probably the last I will visit.

Then I got the bus to the station, and walked back to my room for a bit of a rest. I have booked the room for another night. I thought I could then take my time in the morning, go and have lunch somewhere close by, come back here to the room, have a shower then haul my case to the station, it's only a couple of blocks, get the train to the airport hang around there until the plane leaves for Seoul. Otherwise, I would have to be out of here by 11ish and then what do I do with my case and myself for the day. This way it is more relaxed, or that is my plan.
I've just come back from a roam around the city bath ruins across the road, and a bicciere di vino bianco.
My first glass was dirty and had a dead critter in it so I said no, grazie, and left there and went to another place. The guy who served me told me he will close the restaurant at dodici (12) and for me to go there and have a drink and something to eat with him. I said 'ma tua moglie will be waiting per tu!' (but your wife will be waiting for you!)
No problemo, No problemo!!
Si!!! Problemo!
In the end I agreed to go to shut him up. Little does he know I am snoring my head of by dodici every night!! He wouldn't take any money for my wine, so thanks for the wine Italo!
I will miss the Italian men who fall all over themselves telling me I am bella!!!!
I will leave a post from Seoul, my flight is meant to leave here at 10.10 tomorrow night and get in to Seoul at 5pm Monday - I lose 8 hours somewhere in the air. Seoul is only a couple of hours behind Australia I think. My main plan for Seoul is to sleep and go to the markets and sleep.
