Perugia and Spoleto 031014

I had a shit sleep last night, lots of stupid noise outside.  Got up lateish, went to breakfast and only the frenchy was there today, no kid or husband, and she passed me the cake.  When I told her that Australians eat cake AFTER they have eaten their dinner she just could not believe that!
Anyway, then I caught the train to Spoleto, about 45 minutes south.  Because I had worked out the trains etc I had only about three hours in the town, so decided not to waste time with the bus, so caught a taxi to the centre.  A tax without a meter.  I asked where the meter was and he said that in Spoleto the cost is just a flat 15 euro no matter where you go.  I said that I didn't think that sounded right and he started to get agro so I gave him is stupid 15 euro and got his taxi number, and as I got out of his taxi I was muttering about the polizia.  Like he gave a shit.
I went to the Info office, got a map and asked about the taxi and he said that was right, 15 euro no matter where you go.  Bloody Italy so much has its own rules!
Anyway,  Spoleto was lovely, it was a medieval town and I wandered around for a while and ended up back at a place next to the info office where I had the best pasta I have ever eaten in my life for lunch.  It had a lemon sauce but the pasta just melted in my mouth.  Delish.  That place was just up the road from the Roman Theatre which is why I wanted to go to Spoleto, so I went and had a look at that.
Those arenas are just amazing, all the little hiding places, cubby holes, secret passageways etc.  I explored around there for a while, woke the resident feral cat, wondered about Italy's snakes amongst the long grass and decided to go into the hiding places and passageways of the arena instead.
I then caught the bus back to the station with half an hour til the train. Train was then late.  10 Minutes.  20 Minutes.  An hour later ...
I'm now in my room thinking about packing my crappola to be ready to go to Roma in the morning.  The train leaves Perugia at 11, gets in to Roma around 2, I will then get the bus to the B & B, then see what happens.  Lordy I hope this B & B is ok!!
