Monterchi

Ciao everyone
Monterchi - what can I say - this place is like out of the story books!
Only I have very little internet coverage and when I have it, sometimes it doesn't work anyway!  I did post a blog on Saturday after I arrived.  I had a terrible day and was not going to stay, but long story short because I dont know how long this connection will last- this place is magical! I can't upload photos because of the net connection, but will upload as soon as I can.
My day yesterday -
If anyone had told me two years ago that I would be eating the best pizza I have ever eaten in my whole entire life in a cafe that is inside a castle in Tuscany, I would never ever have believed them in a million years, but that's what I did today!
Still not having a great deal of luck with my internet connection so who knows when this will be posted - very frustrating!
This morning I woke to absolute and total peace, I thought it was still the middle of the night but when I looked at my phone it was 8am. I'm still awake half the night coughing, which is a pain but to sleep til 8 is a luxury.
I went down to the kitchen - this house is on three levels - the kitchen and a bathroom on level one, the lounge dining on level two and the bedroom and a bathroom at street level - the other two are not underground, they all have windows, that's how steep the hill is that the house is built on. I was in the kitchen enjoying my breakfast and the peace when suddenly I could hear yelling 'signora!! signora!! signora!! I came up the two flights of skinny stairs to see Bruno from two houses down standing there with a plastic bag in his hand with two bottles of coke and some plastic cups - for me. He has absolutely NO english and doesnt understand my limited Italian, but after handing the bag to me and saying something, he left with a 'Ciao, ciao!!". I just hope that doesnt mean I have accepted a marriage proposal or anything!
I finally got my act together, shower, dressed and decided I was going to Deruta, a town famous for its ceramics, but when I started looking at maps and working out how to get there I started to panic again so thought buggar it, and got in the car and drove. I ended up at Citta' di Castelle - an amazing city inside castle walls. I walked around checking out the place out, had some lunch at a cafe inside the castle, and after a bit more of a walk around, drove back to the house through a couple of sleepy little villages where you could have let a cannon off in the main street and not hit a soul.
It was siesta time!
I have spent the afternoon tryng to get on to the internet without any success, then went to the local eatery, sat outside and had a glass of wine and a chat with a couple from Austria, had some appertif and walked home in the dead quiet that this town is!!
I dont know what is happening tomorrow, I will work that out when I wake up! One thing I have to do is work out how to contact the people at Avis to extend my hire car for the week, that should be interesting considering I can't get on to the net to get a contact phone number and in my panic when I picked up the car I didnt get a phone number off them. I considered just waiting until they contact me on Tuesday when I don't turn up at 9 with the car, but then thought they may get the carabineri after me and get myself charged with car theft and kicked out of the country with a record, or locked up in some Italian jail. I will spend tomorrow trying to get a contact for Avis I think!

Oggi bello!! I don't know what's in store yet, but whatever it is, it will be fabulous!
