This is my last day in venezia, I'm a bit sad about that, :( BUT I know I will be back. One day.
I got on the ferry and went to Burano, I have already been there last time but it is a really colourful small town and I didn't want to walk another billion miles today, my legs were stuffed last night totally. I did buy myself a nice top, and it was from the same shop that I bought a top from last time, the only trouble is I didn't try the top on last time and it doesn't fit, I tried this one on, then they wanted me to try others on and they were throwing clothes at me to try on and yelling out bargain prices but in the end I just bought the one top.
I managed to post the box home, they said it will take 8 - 10 days to arrive in Australia, this one I will be home in plenty of time for. Just hope the babysitters are home when the other one arrives. Something will work out.
I am starting to panic about getting the train in the morning. I have just done a practise walk to the vaporetto (ferry) at the Rialto, that takes about 10 minutes, the ferrys leave every 12 minutes and it takes 15 minutes to go to the station, if my train leaves at 9.20 then I think if I leave the nunnery at 8 I will be there in plenty of time. I've decided to leave from The Rialto instead of San Marco because that way I get the right ferry. At San Marco I'm stuffed.
It is almost dinner time - for me anyway - and the tourists are still all out in their hordes. They must get so sick of walking the streets where the souvenier shops line both sides, all the shops have the same crap, all charge the same price, but they stop, they look in the window, they go in, then they come out with a plastic bag, then do it all again at the next shop. I do want to get myself a Venice handbag so after I have done this, had something to eat, I will wander into SanMarco, grab one of the bags then go back to my room and pack my shit.
I don't want to leave Venice. I want to leave the tourists, but not Venice. I just love it here, but I will also be glad to get home. I have three days in Perugia where I want to do a couple of day trips, then a week in Rome where I want to do a few day trips then home. I'm not wishing my time away though, I know the time will fly.
Last time I noticed that Italians walk around talking on their phones, loudly, ALL THE TIME. Well that's changed just slightly. Now they walk around on their phones but most of the time they have their ear pieces in their ears and speak into the speaker and hold the handset so they walk around looking like they are talking to themselves, I have to double look all the time to make sure they aren't talking to me.
Anyway, that's it, last blog from beautiful venice.
